Tell us about yourself. How long have you been into pinup and/or pinup modeling?

My name is Brittney Clarke and I’m just a big-hearted 25 year old vintage lover. I was first introduced to rockabilly as a teenager, which is how I discovered the pinup scene. I just fell in love with the retro hair-styling and vintage inspired clothing. But what really drew me in was the fun, flirtatious, confidence that the women in pinup modeling would portray. I’ve always struggled with confidence and self esteem majority of my life. But the pinup lifestyle really helped give me that push to break out of my insecure shell. It was also how I got into modeling. It started with me doing a photo shoot just to get out of my comfort zone but it ended up becoming something more and dear to me. It helped lead me down a path of self discovery and self assurance. Learning to love myself and let go of all my insecurities and the negativity that was holding me back. Everyday is still a struggle for me but I take it one step at a time.

Do you participate in a vintage or pinup lifestyle?

Yes I do. I just fell head over heels for the entire lifestyle. In my spare time I love going to classic car shows, where I get to see live bands, pinup contests, and mingle with others that are into the scene. I also enjoy thrift shopping and going to swap meets for various vintage items, from clothing to mid century furniture.

What is your favorite band or musician?

My favorite would have to be the swing revival band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. I could listen to their albums all night and day. They will make you want to get up on your feet.

What is your favorite classic car?

My favorite classic car would be the 1956 Chevy Bel Air hardtop. That car is a beauty. The eye-popping headlights, those white wall tires, and that interior! Need I say more? I’ll take one in baby blue or pink please.

Who is your inspiration?

That is seriously tough, because I have so many iconic inspirations that have had a huge impact on my life but if I had to narrow down one it would definitely be “The Black Pinup” Angelique Noire. She truly is an icon not only in the pinup community but to woman of color like me. I hope to one day leave such an impact as she has.

What makes you an extraordinary pinup?
I believe that every person is extraordinary in their own special way. In my case I think that it’s my huge compassionate heart and uplifting positivity. I try to make it a priority to treat others how I’d like to be treated, living by the “Kill them with kindness” saying. I stand behind empowering other women rather than tearing them down. Sometimes just kind words and a smile can alter another’s bad day.
