Review: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Wearing Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Outlaw at the Moto-static Car show
Slightly before Torque Fest, I headed over to Sephora and purchased a matte liquid lipstick and then promised a review. I didn't feel it was entirely fair to post a review until I had used the product on several occasions.

Kat Von D's everlasting liquid lipstick isn't as natural as I would normally prefer but it is formulated without parabens. The liquid lipstick is a bolder look - definitely a pinup look for when I am "dolled" up. I still prefer a stain for everyday wear.

The 0.22oz tube includes an in-cap angled applicator but I prefer to apply the liquid lipstick with a lip brush. I dab the lipstick off the applicator brush and onto my lip brush - outlining my lips and then filling in. I tend to use the included applicator for filling in and touch ups. Using a lip brush allows for precision: I can apply less and build up rather than starting out with too much resulting in clown face.

The good:
  • Nice rich color.
  • Easy to apply.
  • Glides on smooth.
  • Lasts for hours.
  • Appears matte.
The bad:
  • Will wear off slightly when eating.
  • Can be hard to remove without makeup remover.
  • Not natural/organic.
The ugly:
  • Don't fall asleep wearing your liquid lipstick! It did not stain my pillow but I did look like a sad clown when I woke up. I also had a time removing the rest of my lipstick without any makeup remover.

Silly faces with Carmen! About 3 hours into wearing lipstick :)
Some might feel that $20 for the tube is pricey but it lasts a long time - especially when using a lip brush which reduces wasted product. Initially, I thought Outlaw (brick red) was too orange of a red for me but since wearing it more I really love it. I considering owning Underage Red (bright crimson) to have an arsenal of awesome red matte liquid lipsticks. These lipsticks are great for a night on the town, a car show, pinup contest, etc. They don't require a lot of reapplication which is really awesome to me!
