Tarte Cosmetics Clean Slate Deluxe Primer Trio Review

Blogger is having issues with me today or maybe I'm the one with issues.  As it is, I feel a bit like death warmed over.  It cooled down the last few days causing my allergies to go wonky.  Last night it got super hot to the point of misery and then I spent a good hour sneezing and blowing my nose.  I miss that hour of would be sleep :( Despite the raging heat last night, it's downright chilly today and rainy. Oh well.

Some of you know that Besame Cosmetics has my heart. Number two to them is Tarte Cosmetics.  They also specialize in natural ingredients, though their cosmetics are not in retro inspired packaging they have a bounty of reds to make my heart skip a beat.  Recently, they sold a mini primer kit and I finally got my hands on it. Currently, the clean slate deluxe primer trio is sold out on tarte, but it can still be purchased at Sephora. The trio includes Clean Slate 360 creaseless 12-hour smoothing eye primer, Clean Slate poreless 12-hour perfecting primer, and Clean Slate flawless 12-hour brightening primer.

Primer Trio
On the far end in the white tube is the Clean Slate 360 creaseless 12-hour smoothing eye primer, which is an absolute favorite of mine.  It has a light (very light) scent that reminds me of homemade silly putty ;) For this a little bit goes a long way, so this mini will last me a long time.  If you've ever used urban decay primer potion this certainly rivals it with the added bonus of being natural. I wear this under my powder and add my favorite black eyeliner, black tea gel eyeliner, and maintain a rockin' cat eye all day. The gel eyeliner held its own all day, the primer furthers its life.

Next up in my list of favorites, is the Clean Slate 12-hour perfecting primer (the purple tube).  This has the look and consistency of vaseline (though no petrochemicals used of course).  It glides on like a dream and feels weightless on the skin. Makeup is mattified nicely. This creates the perfect base for applying makeup and increases the longevity of the make up. Win win.

Lastly, is the Clean Slate flawless 12-hour brightening primer.  This one has a lotion-like consistency and has a light orange/citrus scent. It goes on well but I could never tell a difference. It wasn't a favorite mostly because I never found it to do anything.  Despite this the trio is well worth the $9 for the other two minis and when I run out I will definitely be purchasing the full sizes.

Til next time,
Miss Liz
